Alpaca fleece offers the very best warmth and comfort. As a natural hollow fibre, it has superior insulation properties for its relatively lightweight. It is a strong, naturally hypoallergenic and fine fibre, making it simply the most comfortable and luxurious fibre for Duvets.

Alpacas are also curious and sensitive animals, making them a pleasure to breed and manage. Australia's herd has grown over the last thirty years, and today our genetics are sought after around the world.

Little Valley Farm is a boutique-sized Alpaca breeder in Laguna, NSW, well-known for national parks and Australian wildlife. We are off-grid and sustainable in our on-farm practices. Alpacas fit that perfectly with a very low impact on the land.

This Duvet is made in Australia to the highest quality standards. It contains 100% Alpaca fleece inside a 100% superfine cotton cover.

Which Duvet weight is right for me?

Duvets use ‘Grams Per Square Metre’ or gsm to indicate the products relative warmth. It refers to the weight of the quilt filling. So, the higher the gsm of filling the warmer it is.

  • 200 gsm is good for Summer (roughly equivalent to 1-2 blankets)

  • 300 gsm is good for both Autumn and Spring (roughly equivalent to 2-3 blankets)

  • 500 gsm is good for Winter (roughly equivalent to 3-4 blankets)

We use a 300 gsm in the Shearers Studio as it is well insulated and a 500 gsm in the uninsulated Train cabin. In very cold times blankets are added to increase the warmth as required for different guests. In Summer we may swap to a 200 gsm or just use a light sheet and thin blanket. In our own house we would recommend a 300 gsm as the most versatile.

What are Australian standard Duvet sizes?

  • Double - 180cm x 210cm

  • Queen - 210cm x 210cm

  • King - 245cm x 210cm

What is a Duvet?

  • A Duvet, Quilt and Doona are pretty much used synonymously in Australia. We felt Duvet conveyed the quality far better than ‘Doona’.
