The Fire Horse Comes to Wollombi: Your Front-Row Seat to the Sculpture Festival

Daniela Riccio August 30, 2026

Little Valley Farm sits in the Wollombi Valley, Hunter Valley, NSW - 90 minutes from Sydney- and this September we've got a ringside seat to something special. The Wollombi Valley Sculpture Festival runs from 12 to 27 September 2026, with sculptures and events scattered right across the valley, and a single evening in particular has us counting down the days.

Euan put together this video for the fire event. Check it out!

A Celebration of the Fire Horse

Undercliff Winery · Sunday 13 September, 5 pm

Tamworth sculptor Adam Humphreys started out with a chainsaw and timber before moving into welded steel, drawn by a lifelong connection to horses. For this festival, he's brought both mediums together. A horse's head built from timber and steel, on display across the festival before a live performance closes out its story.

At sunset, Undercliff Winery, Humphreys will mark the sculpture's final chapter in a one-off performance unlike anything else on the program. What that final chapter looks like, we'll leave for the evening itself.

Settle in at the cellar door as the light fades, wine and cheese available to purchase while you take in the last of the season's sun over the vines and before Adam brings the Fire Horse to its conclusion.

Make a Weekend or a Week of It

The Fire Horse is just one evening, but the Wollombi Valley Sculpture Festival runs for over two weeks so plenty of reason to turn a single event into a proper slow escape. Base yourself at the Little Valley Summerhouse, our off-grid, adults-only retreat just down the road, and take in the whole festival at your own pace: sculptures scattered through the valley by day, the Stoked hot tub under the stars by night, with alpacas and miniature donkeys keeping you company in between.

Midweek stays mean quieter roads to the festival trail and first pick of dinner bookings at the local wineries and cellar doors. Stay through to the weekend, and you've got time to catch more of the program without rushing back to Sydney.

Reserve your stay at littlevalleyfarm.com.au and build your festival weekend around it.

and if we are fully booked out, we can refer you to another fabulous house in the bush, but best to email Daniela about this.

The Wollombi Valley Sculpture Festival runs 12–27 September 2026 across the Wollombi Valley, Hunter Valley NSW.
