AN ART TRAIL THROUGH THE VILLAGE
A Hunter Valley arts hub
Six galleries and studios, all independent, all within a ten-minute walk. Sculpture, ceramics, glass, painting, textiles, leatherwork - most of it made within a few kilometres of where you're standing, much of it by the people who'll be there when you walk in. Start anywhere. The numbers on the map are suggestions, not orders.
Wollombi is a living village of about a thousand people, saturated with artists and makers. What hangs in these galleries was made by people who live here - in studios up the side roads and across 170,000 acres of valley.
Home of the Wollombi Valley Sculpture Festival - the largest regional sculpture show in NSW.
The Artisan Collective at the Wollombi General Store for painters, textile makers, and leather makers and the Polina Karuso Art Studio.
Roadside Gallery for 3D Art.
Jodie Usher Gallery: birdlife paintings.
The Forge for art, antiques and curious finds.
Little Yengo Gallery for Indigenous art and The Fireshed Gallery (a revolving art), by the Wollombi Valley Arts Council.
This art trail project and map design was led by my husband, Euan Wilcox and a small team of artisans. You can view Euan’s work on instagram @wollombivalley
