From the Herd to the Market: Little Valley Farm at the Artisans Collective

Little Valley Farm at the Artisan Collective and Wollombi General Store market June 2026

Our First Market Day, and Why We’re Already Planning the Next One…

Packing up alpaca yarn, throws, soft toys and heading out to share what you’ve made brings a quiet kind of excitement.

Last Saturday, June 6th, we set up our first market stall at the Wollombi General Store Artisans Collective in Wollombi Village, NSW, from 8 am to 2 pm. It was simply lovely.

The day was filled with golden winter light and great conversation. We brought a bit of Little Valley Farm with us: alpaca duvets, soft alpaca toys, and our luxurious La Sierra throws and shawls.  The throws especially caught people’s attention. When people hold a piece of alpaca fibre that is truly soft, warm, and comes from a real animal with a name, it changes how they think about what they’re buying.

And, YES, I am wearing a jumper knitted and the yarn is from my very first four white alpacas back in 2012. It’s my fav jumper to wear all winter.

If you missed us, you can find our full range online at littlevalleyfarm.com.au. But honestly, we’d love for you to visit us in person at the next market. It’s just a better experience.

Mark your calendar: the next Artisan Collective Market is on Saturday, July 4th, at the Wollombi General Store from 8 am to 2 pm.
We hope to see you there.

Thats my alpaca jumper knitted for me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Little Valley Farm?

We’re tucked into Laguna in the Wollombi Valley, NSW, about 90 minutes from Sydney. We’re a private farm, so we’re not open for casual drop-ins or day visits. What we do have is the Little Valley Summerhouse, our architect-designed accommodation available to book year-round. It’s an adults-only stay that sleeps up to four guests, and you can book directly through our website.

Do you do day visits?

We don’t- sorry, we’re a working farm and an exclusive retreat, not a public attraction. The best ways to find us are online at littlevalleyfarm.com.au or in person when we’re at a market in Wollombi Village. Watch this space for upcoming dates.

Do you run alpaca workshops?

Yes! Our alpaca workshops are perfect if you’re thinking about keeping alpacas as pets or adding them to your property and want to know what you’re actually getting into first. We run them once a month. Head to our website to see upcoming dates and book your spot.

Do you sell alpaca fleece and products?

We do. We shear our herd every September and have fibre available for sale by the end of the year. You can purchase online, or get in touch to arrange an appointment to come and browse in person.

Little Valley Farm to showcase La Sierra Alpaca Knitwear and Living

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRESS RELEASE

Little Valley Farm to showcase La Sierra Alpaca Knitwear and Living

Wollombi Valley, NSW – [9 April 2025] – From a shared love of alpacas and textiles, Little Valley Farm is proud to announce its bringing a curated selection of ethically made alpaca knitwear and living to its boutique farmstay and online store thanks to La Sierra.

Alpaca: A Sustainable Luxury

Naturally lightweight, breathable, and long-lasting, alpaca fibre is one of the world’s most sustainable materials. Beyond its everyday benefits, it contributes to a healthier planet, offering a natural, biodegradable, and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic fibres.

Why La Sierra?
Little Valley Farm has always made use of the fleece from their alpaca herd, but local production has often been slow and challenging. So when founders Euan and Daniela met Sophia, the creative force behind La Sierra, a brand that shares their values of ethical craftsmanship, sustainability, and slow living, the connection was instant.

La Sierra offers a direct link to Peruvian artisans, supporting community impact through education, fair wages, and improved living conditions. It’s more than just a brand—it’s a purpose-driven collaboration built on meaningful connections.

La Sierra was born from Sophia’s own journey to find something truly special: luxury with meaning. While travelling through South America, she discovered the unmatched softness of alpaca fibre and the remarkable artistry of Indigenous makers who have honed their craft over generations.

Inspired by timeless quality, sustainability, and a slower, more intentional lifestyle, Sophia set out to create beautiful, investment-worthy pieces that resonate deeply with those who wear them.

More than just knitwear, La Sierra represents conscious luxury—each piece tells a story, and you’ll feel that story every time you wrap yourself in it.

A New Level of Comfort at the Little Valley Summerhouse

From Autumn/Winter 2025, guests staying at the Little Valley summerhouse will be welcomed into a new level of warmth and luxury with the introduction of alpaca knitwear and living throughout the space.

To enhance the experience, the summerhouse now features a curated collection from La Sierra—including soft alpaca cushions, elegant bed throws, cosy beanies, and a one-of-a-kind handwoven Peruvian alpaca rug.

These natural, ethically sourced pieces bring an added layer of comfort and authenticity to the off-grid retreat, creating a tranquil haven where the beauty of alpacas can be felt in every fibre.

It’s alpaca luxury - redefined.

Alpaca Pure Duvets by Little Valley Farm

We are highly excited to say our very own Alpaca Duvets are ready for people to take home with them!

For eight years, we have toyed with the idea; we've made prototypes and experimented with various samples and ways to professionally manufacture them at a cost-effective smaller scale.

We have now done it to a standard far beyond our original expectations and equal to the best in the market.

For the last three months, our guests have enjoyed our very own "Alpaca Pure" duvets in our cabins - but now we have produced a wide range to sell via our webstore.

We only use 100% Alpaca fleece with a 100% Sateen Cotton casing. This makes the most beautiful Soft & Warm duvet we have ever experienced.

Take a look online & let us know your thoughts!

Little Valley Farm is based in the Lower Hunter Valley. We have been working and breeding alpacas for ten years.

Alpaca Suri Fleece available for sale

Shearing is done every October at Little Valley Farm. Fleece sorting is done randomly or when I get inspired to sort, spin and add it onto the website. It all takes time, and there is always a lot of beautiful fleece sort through.

So, where you can purchase our unprocessed fleece or handspun alpaca yarn? Jump on our website at @littlevalleyfarm.com.au or visit the stunning homeware and lifestyle shop in Laguna called @LagunaLuxe next to GNTP.

I have just added three saddles of fawn SURI fleece to the website so you can order online and we will post them to you. P&P charges will be added to the shop cart.

Click here to order online as the next lot of fleece won’t be available until October 2022 after shearing day.

Little Valley Farm is based in Laguna in the Wollombi Valley, Hunter Valley. We are only 90 minutes from Sydney but feels like a million miles away. To check availability for our couples only glamping experience contact Daniela via email.
